Musical Jellies
Raphaƫl Pluvinage and Marianne Cauvard's Noisy Jelly project is a game that allows each player to create their own musical instrument out of jelly. The video for the project uses absolutely no sound editing, and needs to be seen and heard to be believed! Using a mini chemistry lab, each player makes their own set of jellies using water, agar agar powder and a series of moulds. The jelly shapes are then placed on the game board, and can be manipulated to create sound.

Charcoal Drawings by Yanni Floros - Girls with Headphones
Australia-based Yanni Floros has total command of the charcoal. These drawings are meticulously detailed with just the right combination of realism and artistry. Drawing hair realistically is no small feat, and these are beyond convincing, capturing beauty in the somewhat mundane details of a single moment.
Yanni's work extends across painting, sculpture and drawing, focussing on "the pursuits of man and how those pursuits impact our development." He has an interest in technology, "especially the design of things and the way they're put together," and when viewing humanity as a whole, he tries to ask what it is "about us that wants to make all this?" Technology is so engrained in our lives, he questions whether we would be able to live without it.

Mind's New Look For Villandry
Mind Design is currently working on a re-brand for Villandry, the restaurant, foodstore and bakery with branches in London and Bicester. The scheme is based on five shapes which refer to traditional brasserie menu frames.
The shapes, Mind say, "are either used individually or combined to create a pattern. We have also chosen a very bright colour scheme that contrasts the classic shapes". Their work for the brand encompasses identity, packaging, signage system and all printed material.

Restoration Hardware Baby & Child
This packaging system needed to be distinctive, premium and reflect the attitude and ethos of the luxury home goods company.
It was not only necessary to develop the packaging to reflect the Restoration Hardware Baby & Child brand but also effectively communicate the company’s dedication to curating the best products on the market and attention to detail. The design solution for the hangtags and product packaging was to differentiate each item by developing a visual vocabulary subtly distinct to each line. Designs were seemingly influenced by the places from which products were sourced, yet without fundamentally changing the overall aesthetic of the system. Through the restrained use of colour and typography, the gift packaging and collateral serve to enhance the brand experience.

Build Creates Wordplay for Nokia
Design studio Build has designed a series of prints and postcards to celebrate and promote the fact that Nokia's Pure typeface, designed by Dalton Maag, is available in no fewer than thirteen different language versions.
The project, entitled Wordplay, sees a host of characters from the typeface's different language sets used to create illustrations "based around pangrams and phrases that are familiar, funny, silly and thoughtful," Build tell us. Build has created a series of 13 postcards bound together with a rubber band and also a set of 13 posters, each created in editions of just 20, plus an animated film. Here's a look at the work - look out for a fox jumping over a lazy dog!

Ouse Valley Foods
burst* was asked to create a new identity and packaging for Ouse Valley Foods which would give the brand the personality that fits it’s premium positioning.
It was not only necessary to develop the packaging to be unique, distinctive and premium, reflecting the personality and ethos of Ouse Valley Foods, but to effectively communicate clearly the different ranges and products to the consumer.Julian Warrender makes all the products herself by hand from and this attention to detail needed to be conveyed.Premium cues were subtly added by using foils for the product titles, enhancing and differentiating without fundamentally changing the designs. It was also important we created an efficient design solution that could be easily hand-applied.The lovely Heron watercolour illustration created by Kathy Wyatt was enhanced by the use of a textured label, giving the feel of an actual illustration on each jar.

The A1 Typographic Scrabble Set by Andrew Capener
Designer Andrew Capener created this Scrabble set as a personal challenge to bring a bit of type appreciation to the letter-centric board game. He wanted to stir up some excitement in players about typography design by giving them the ability to choose their sets font. They could select a game set in their favorite font or with an assorted pack, with additional font sets available through the Scrabble site.
He constructed the scrabble board and interior box with solid walnut and the exterior box from birch. The board pieces are magnetized to snap together perfectly, and each piece slides neatly into place in the box, anchored with magnets for seamless storage. His original concept found such favor in the design community that Hasboro and Winning Solutions took notice. They've teamed up with Andrew to produce a special edition set.
