To commemorate the release of the first film in the trilogy, makers of The Hobbit have collaborated with New Zealand Post to produce a set of coins and stamps that can be used.
The set of six stamps and legal tender coins will feature Tolkien’s hobbits, elves and wizards, from Gandlaf to Gollum—and will go on sale on 1 November 2012. The stamps are priced at NZ$1.90, and the coins start at NZ$1 and run through to NZ$10. New Zealand Post is also developing a range of collectable options that include: a presentation pack (NZ$29.90), and an ultimate collection book of collectables (NZ$385).
