UCLAN graphics student Alex Creamer emailed TDOD with his 2nd year packaging project he produced last year. Currently on placement in London with a number of other UCLAN students, Alex has managed to get his work featured on the great packaging blog Die Line… So we thought we would include it too.

Logopops
Massimo Gammacurta's logo lollipops are brought together in a new book, a sickly sweet collection of corporate iconography rendered in brightly coloured sugar...
Gammacurta first distributed his special lollipops over the internet, as an art experiment, and they were picked up (licked up?) by numerous bloggers.

Stuffed and sorted
From the department of WTF come two new ad campaigns, each starring stuffed toys whose outward cuteness is undercut with more than a hint of menace. Brilliant - check it out!

Harmless Dissolve appears in Packaging Europe
The Complete Package: innovation, listening and getting the job done
Packaging supply is not simply about making products; it’s more about innovating, listening to the customer and delivering a ‘Complete Package’.
The demands are however, high; and quite rightly so. The Complete Package givens must be superior quality, exemplary project management and customer service, all appropriately priced. Within this heady list of attributes though, packaging businesses must be able to offer a differentiator. Cyberpac believes innovation to be that differentiator as being contemporary and forward thinking allows clients to succeed in the market place. Alongside innovation, a critical attribute for any packaging supplier must be the ability to listen and get the brief right. Creative Agencies are often heard to say: ‘manufacturers over sell and under deliver, making what they can make, not what I want!’

Harmless dissolve becomes a sculptural piece.
A Bag for Life by Jacqui Jones
"In this work I’ve sculpted alternative plastic bags from ‘Harmless Dissolve’ The bags are formed in the shape of embryonic figures and filled with a seeds saplings etc. Each ‘bag’ has burst as water has been poured on to it allowing some of the contents to spill out. The piece reflects on the vulnerability of the human race and an awareness that green plastics may offer opportunities for regrowth."

Fact of the Day
For all fake tan-users - did you know if you eat too many carrots, it’s possible for your skin to turn orange? And to women wearing their pride and joy Manolo Blahniks, high heels were originally made for men. Also vegetarians beware, the brain actually has the same consistency as tofu. All true, according to website learnsomethingeveryday.co.uk, created by Manchester-based design consultancy Young.

Ready, steady, colour
You may have been inspired by Sunday’s London Marathon to dust off your trainers and perhaps enter the 2011 race. However, if it seems too much like hard work, why not go for something that’s still themed on running, but is a little more creative and relaxing.
